The biker jacket is built on asymmetry. The offset zip, snap lapels and belted waist create diagonal lines that broaden the shoulders and shorten the torso. It reads sharp, slightly rebellious, and it dresses down tailoring extremely well.
The bomber is the opposite argument: symmetrical, ribbed at the hem and cuffs, softer through the body. It is the more forgiving of the two shapes and the easier one to wear at the office.
If your shoulders are already broad, a bomber balances the frame. If you are slim through the chest, a biker adds visual structure where you want it.
For formality: a bomber over a shirt is acceptable in almost any smart-casual room. A biker is more of a statement — pair it with clean, simple layers and let the jacket carry the outfit.
